How to Become a Snowboard Instructor in Canada

    Be of age. You must be 15 years old to enroll in a CASI course. [citation needed]

    Learn to snowboard yourself! You can't teach it if you aren't good yourself, obviously.

    Visit the CASI (Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors) website[1] to find out information on the Level 1 course. You will find course overviews (which includes what your expected abilities are), dates and locations that the course is offered and the costs associated.
    • Optional - If you are apprehensive about your skills, there is a Level 1 preparation course that will help if you feel you need it.

    Enroll in the CASI course of your choice.

Tips

  • If you don't like working with people, this is not the job for you!!
  • Resorts are looking for people who are fun, creative and can combine that with being responsible.
  • Study the course guide beforehand, it will help!

Warnings

  • If you never took lessons yourself, expect to be broken down and built back up. This is the process of refining your style/skills to the standards expected by the CASI evaluators.
