How to Be Prepared for Your First Day of School

If you have moved schools, are starting secondary or primary school, are a foreign exchange student, or you are starting a new term at school, your first day of school will definitely not be a cakewalk. Follow these steps and you can start school as smoothly as possible.

Method 1
The Night Before

    Take a bath. Have a nice, deep, bubbly bath and relax in it. Get a stereo system and play something like classical music to calm down. Read a book, magazine or comi c in the bath.

    Set your alarm. Learn what time you should be in school and figure out a time to wake up at. For example, if you need to be in school for 8:30 am, set your alarm for something like 7:00 am.

    Go to bed early. Get to bed at around 8:00-9:00 pm. Read, Visualize , watch TV, chill out, or go straight to sleep.

Method 2
The First Day of School

    Get up early, but not early enough to be tired. Spend a few minutes resting, and then get up and begin to get ready.

    Get in the shower to wake you up, and brush your teeth and hair. Make sure you look your best, but don't worry too much about it.

    Get dressed. If you have a school uniform, put it on neatly. If you go to a school without a uniform, wear something comfortable, yet stylish. Make sure everything is ironed and neat & clean.

    Have breakfast. Don't eat too much for your first day, but eat enough that you won't be starving during your first few classes.Eat something healthy like fruits or a glass of milk or both.. Remember to pack a lunch if it's needed.

    Get your supplies ready. Get your school bag and pack pens, pencils, math instruments, notebooks, books, or anything else you might need for your school day.

    Stay calm. Play it cool throughout the day, and relax as you get to know your way around and meet everyone.

Tips

  • You should get a timetable at the start of the day, and this is really useful. It should include a map of the school, periods, classrooms you should be in, and homework.
  • Make sure you bring all your stationery, PE kit, lunch/lunch money and all equipment you need.

Warnings

  • If you get lost in the corridors, don't worry. Lots of people get lost or are late for periods on the first day. If you find yourself lost or running late, tell a teacher or older pupil.
  • Don't panic. If you can't find your backpack, and it is already 8:10 am, just take a deep breath and count to 10 in your head, and focus on what needs to be done.
