Cell phones are fun when you are a teen. But they can easily become manipulated by other students, broken, stolen, or lost.

    Only give your number out to people you trust. You want to text that new kid in your math class, but he could easily give your number out to people that you do not like. If you give someone your number, tell them to please not give it to anyone else.

    Get a cell phone that can block numbers. Also call your provider and see if they provide a service that does this.

    Always keep your phone in your pocket or an internal pocket in your backpack your purse that zips.

    Don't make prank calls or texts. You don't like getting them, other people don't like them either. Chances are you are just being mean.

    Do not let anybody borrow your phone unless they are your friend that you would trust with your life.

    Don't leave your phone in your locker. School lock are usually cheap and can be picked easily.

    Do not take your phone out during class. This is a one way ticket to getting your phone confiscated.

Tips

  • Make sure you don't lose it or that's a way to get it taken away from parents.
  • If someone does prank call you, and you know who it is, keep their number in your phone book so you know who it is in the future.
  • Don't use your phone for trivial reasons or it will burn out. If you have a limited number of minutes, try making texts long, and never send a pointless one (who wants to waste minutes sending a text that just says "lol"?).
  • Familiarize yourself with your school's cell phone policy.
  • If you want to find out who is prank calling put *67 in front of the number and call them. This way, your number will show up as private or unknown.
