Get involved in the things that matter to him. Guys don't go to their other male friends' football games, track meets, band or choir concerts, plays. Your job as a good friend would go! Even if he says that you don't have to go...go. That will make him feel like you care for he does or likes.

Make it a big deal. When his birthday rolls around, make it a big deal! Guys don't seem to want to celebrate their birthdays, they may want to but they don't. So make a big deal out of his birthday! Send him a card in the mail, treat him to a movie of his choice, decorate his locker, or just call him on the phone and sing the happy birthday tune! Make him feel appreciated, without overdoing it.

Trust him. You're friends so you have to learn to trust him. Don't be too emotional about things though. Like, if your grandma is sick then tell him. If you are having a rough time -- tell him. It'll make him feel good knowing you'll trust him. Guys usually don't confide a lot in each other so eventually he'll trust you enough to let his guard down too.

Nurture him. Guys sometimes hang out with girls because of their soft side. Be there for him. Even if it's asking, "Are you okay?" It will show him you're a caring friend.

  • Don't lie to him about your life, tell him the truth.
  • Be the friend he would want to tell his problems to
  • Try to ask him about his day or what's up. Guys love to know that someone is interested in what they do.
  • Don't go around telling his friends or your friends about his secrets and things he opened up to you knowing that you won't tell.
  • Don't bug him too much; he might get annoyed.
  • Most guys hate talking about their problems, so if you get the feeling that there's something he's hiding from you, ask him about it. If he doesn't want to share, then let him know you're there for him when he's ready.
  • If he opens up to you, don't laugh about it you must stay focused and awake
  • Always smile when he passes through.
  • Don't get too emotional Guy friends don't always like you as a girlfriend. This isn't because there's something wrong with you, but because you might be a great friend, rather than a romantic prospect to him. Don't be surprised if he gets a girlfriend and it's not you. Guys may like to have strict boundaries. They like to know that you are strictly their gal-friend. Try not to develop a crush on him, even though it may be easy.
  • Keep things in between the two of you
  • Give him space. Don't be too clingy. You don't have to talk to him every chance you get. You don't have to wave or smile at him every time you see him. If he's hanging out with his guy friends, then back off! Don't come in between him and his guy friends because then you'll start to bug him. This doesn't mean you totally avoid him with his guys but don't make it a big deal if he doesn't give you his full attention when he is with them. It doesn't mean anything.
  • Love him with no expectations. Everything you do, do it just to give...don't expect to receive. He will love you back in his own way. He may tell you or it may just be something you feel, and you know he feels it too. It's called a bond! The same thing goes for your girl friends. You may not SAY "I love you" but you feel love from your friends every time you look back at old photos. Or every time you think of something that happened 5 years ago and still smile about it. That's love for your friends. Love with all you have.
  • Become friends with his friends. You should try to get to know some of his friends, preferably his best friends. This way you will know who he is talking about if he mentions them and he will feel more comfortable hanging out with you when they are around if you are friends with them too.
  • Tell him that you will always be there for him.
  • Always talk to him.
  • If sometimes he hurts you, tell him. He'll stop being a jerk.
  • Be strong when he needs you to be, but sometimes he needs a soft place to land.

  • Remember, you are NOT his girlfriend. Don't cross that fine line. Just incase he doesn't feel that way about you
  • If you have feelings for him you may just want to think about what you are doing
  • Realize that he has other girls in his life. He will have other girlfriends, other friends who are girls, and other best friends. His world doesn't revolve around you so don't make yours revolve around him.
  • Don't expect to make or have a close guy best friend in one day, one week, one month, or even a year. It takes time, you can't just will a friendship into existence.
  • Don't try to be his friend just to get him to like you. Guys think that is cruel and will most likely no longer respect you once they find out.
  • Don't let him be to clingy either because than you won't be able to hang out with any of your other friends
