How to Bake Chocolate Chip Bar Cookies
Here's an easy way to bake chocolate chip cookies without all the hassle. The cookies are baked in bar form, which is the easiest way to make any cookie.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 ounces (340g) chocolate chips
Steps
- 1Preheat oven to 375ºF/190ºC.
- 2Grease the baking pan.
- 3Cream together shortening, butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla.
- 4In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, except for the chocolate chips.
- 5Add the dry ingredients to the shortening mixture. Add a bit at a time to prevent the dry ingredients from flying out of the mixing bowl. Mix until a dough forms.
- 6Add the chocolate chips and stir into the dough.
- 7Spread into the prepared pan.
- 8Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden.
- 9Remove from the oven when baked. Allow to cool and cut into even-sized bars.
- 10Finished.
