How to Bake Butter Layered Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 cups wheat flour sifted together with
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 250 gm unsalted butter of any brand
  • Half tsp salt
  • 4 size 'A' whole eggs
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • Half cup of brown sugar
  • Half cup of Horlicks/milk powder
  • Some food coloring (as desired)

    Sift the flour in with the baking powder.

    Put sugar, butter and salt into a mixing bowl. Mix on a medium speed until it looks pale.

    Add in eggs one at a time.

    Add in flour, bit by bit alternately with the milk. Increase the speed for 2-3 minutes.

    Divide the batter into three portions. Mix cocoa powder with batter in the first bowl, two drops of food coloring into the second bowl batter and set aside.

    Greased the baking pan. Pour in the cocoa mixture into the greased pan and steam it about 15 to 20 minutes.

    Sprinkle with brown sugar and Horlicks/milk powder. Then pour in the second layer (colored batter).

    Remove from the steamer. Leave it for 5 minutes before placing it into a cooling rack.

  • Food coloring can be substituted with root beet extract for red and screw-pine for green.
