How to Bake a One Bowl Cake

One bowl is used to make this orange and sour cream flavored cake. An orange glaze is added to make this cake an easy cake to bake and serve.

Ingredients

Cake

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, margarine or shortening, your choice, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon orange rind, grated
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice


Method 1
Cake

    Preheat oven to 325 °F (163 °C).

    Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan (angel food cake pan)

    Put all the ingredients for the cake into a mixing bowl.

    Mix on low speed for 3 minutes.

    Pour batter into the prepared pan.

    Bake for 60 to 70 minutes. The cake surface will spring back when lightly touched when the cake is done.

    Cool 15 minutes in pan on wire baking rack.

    Remove cake from pan and let cool completely.

Method 2
Glaze

    Mix powdered sugar and orange juice together in a small bowl.

    Spread lightly over top of cooled cake.

    Allow some of the glaze to flow down the side of the cake.
