Make sure to eat enough fiber. The minimum daily fiber intake is 25g for women and 38g for men. (This does not seem like a lot, but once you start counting your grams you will notice that it is very easy to consume less than the required amount.) Going over the daily minimum fiber intake can help alleviate constipation very well when using Temodar (Temozolomide). However since fiber is very filling, caution is advised to make sure daily caloric needs are still reached if weight loss is a concern. Fiber should also be added gradually, so the body can get used to it. Good sources of fiber for every meal are as follows. Breakfast: high fiber cereal and bars (including, bran, oats and flax), fresh and dried fruit, whole grain bagels, muffins etc. Lunch and Dinner: whole grain and high fiber breads, brown rice, quinoa and whole grain pasta, beans and nuts, vegetables, leafy greens and fruits. Including foods from these categories with every meal will help reach the required fiber needs. If reaching fiber requirements is difficult, a fiber supplement can be added.
