Tips

  • Auto-patrolling your own edits is convenient for minor edits with no chance for error, such as fixing simple mistakes or welcoming new users. This will prevent your edits from increasing the number of unpatrolled edits.
  • You do not have to turn on auto-patrol in order to patrol your own edits. You may simply click on "Mark as Patrolled" when you come across one of your edits in Recent Changes. Note that this only works if you are an administrator.
  • Refrain from auto patrolling if you are a trial admin. One of the ways your mentors review your progress and provide feedback is through patrolling.

Warnings

  • Please remember to uncheck the "Mark my edits patrolled by default" box, once you no longer wish to auto-patrol your edits.
  • It is human to err, so unless you are absolutely certain you will not make editing mistakes, please leave the "Mark my edits patrolled by default" box unchecked, so others can look over your edits and correct any errors or improve upon your edits. If you are unsure, always err on the side of caution, and leave the "Mark my edits patrolled by default" box unchecked.
