How to Apply Mime Makeup for Kids

Mime makeup is perfect for a child on Halloween or dress up any time. It is fun and easy for anyone to do––the steps are simple. You'll find that this mime look can go with any costume or just some black and white clothes for a casual Halloween party.

  1. 1
Cover the entire face with white makeup. Stop at the jawline. Do not blend onto the neck and remember to fill in the eyebrows with the white. This will come in handy later.
  2. 2
Using the black facepaint, paint the lower lashline thickly. Also paint the upper eyelid. Make sure the top and bottom connect. Do this for both eyes.
  3. 3
Locate the center of the lower lashline. Carefully use a small brush or the corner of a makeup sponge to draw a point that goes down only about an inch (2.5cm). At the bottom of the point, flick your painting tool so that it makes a thin, short line. Do this for both eyes as well.
  4. 4
Color in the lips with the black. Draw thin lines extending from the sides of the lips just an inch and a half or so out.
  5. 5
Increase the eyebrow thickness. This step is optional, but with the black paint, create medium thickness eyebrows above the real one. Have fun and make them expressive!
  6. 6
Add the blush. Brush the bright red blush on the center of each cheek. Make a dot about the diameter of your blush or powder brush to bring a little color into your little emo clown. boom! makeup done. Grab a beret, some gloves, suspenders, a striped shirt, black pants, and you have one cute little mime costume.

  • If you want a scary mime, take some Vaseline or olive oil on a Q-tip and drag down the under eye triangles as well as smudge the blush more. Use a ball of toilet paper or a cotton ball and dab at the white to make it look worn. A little fake blood splashes here and there wont hurt either!
  • If your child is allergic or sensitive to facepaint, make sure before hand so you have a safe facepaint to use, especially around the eye area because that is one of the most sensitive parts of the face
  • If you want the makeup to last all through the day up till bedtime, use a makeup setting spray. they can be a little pricy, but they work. Don't use powder of any kind, because it will mess up the black.
  • Make sure the paint is washable in case your little one gets paint in the costume or clothes.
