How to Apply Kohl Makeup
Kohl makeup was used by both women and men back in the time of the pharaohs. This is the classic/traditional style of Egyptian makeup.
Steps
- 1Wash your face and pat dry.
- 2With your brown, gray, or black pencil, fill in your eyebrows and draw a straight medium line outside your natural eyebrows. Stop halfway out.
- 3Draw the upper eyelids medium to heavy with pencil. Next draw heavy line on bottom eyelids.
- 4Apply dark green eyeshadow to the eyelids up to the eye-socket.
- 5Apply gold, orange gold, or dark yellow eyeshadow form where you stopped the green shadow all the way up to the brow line.
- 6Apply black mascara to upper lashes.
- 7Apply red or dark pink lipstick to lips.
- 8Apply Bronzer or blush in the hallow part of your cheeks.
- 9Finished.
Tips
- Go for a "mild" Egyptian look if you don't want too many stares. Also try an eyeliner that will compliment your skin tone.
- Men and boys, if you want to you can skip the lipstick and bronzer/blush and nail polish.
- Make sure makeup is even on both sides of face.
- Both genders wore nail polish. Only the royals were allowed to wear dark nail color such as green, rust red, or brown. Commoners/peasants wore light blues.
- Be extra careful applying eyeliner if it's in liquid form.
Warnings
- Don't go for the Elizabeth Taylor look, not very authentic.
