Three Methods:Aligning a Large Image in a Main StepAligning a Small, Portrait Image to the RightAligning an Image in a Substep

Once you have uploaded or imported an image and have applied its appropriate attribution and licensing information, you'll need to place it on a wikiHow page. Here are various ways to insert an image into a wikiHow article.

Method 1
Aligning a Large Image in a Main Step

Much of the sizing of wikiHow images is automatic, for consistency. If you have a large image, regardless of where you put the image code, it will show up large and centered, above the step.

    • It will look similar to this:
    • Replace FILENAME.jpg with the file name of your chosen image.
    • If an image is large enough, it will automatically be set above the step and centered, regardless of the details in the image code. You can put the code at the start or end of the step, and no line breaks (<BR>) are required.
    • Alternatively, you can use the {{largeimage}} template for your images. The code will look like this: .

Follow the steps in the method above, but insert a different code.
    • To align an image to the right of text: [[Image:FILENAME.PNG|right]]
    • You can also adjust specific sizes and include captions, if desired, by adding the word "thumb" to the image code. For example, you might use: [[Image:FILENAME.PNG|150px|thumb|right|Here is my caption.]]
    • Right-aligned images on main steps will only work if the original image files are small and in portrait orientation (taller than they are wide).
