Whenever you're going on a wikiBreak, it's a good idea to let others know because editors may not be happy that you're not replying to their message for a long time. A good way to do this would be to add an "away notification" to your talk page. This is a template or code that mentions a note telling other editors you're going on a wikiBreak.

Steps

    Go to your talk page.

    Click the Edit tab at the top left of the talk page.

Method 1
Adding a Floating Note

    Choose where you want to put your note. A good area to place it in is on top of a whitespace before the messages.

Mention that you may not be able to answer any questions, comments, or concerns and that other editors should ask an admin or the help team if they need help quickly (add links to admins and the help team).

Tips

  • You can also add the template, code, or note on your user page, just in case a user doesn't visit your talk page, and doesn't know you're on a wikiBreak.
  • To be safe, you may not want to let anyone know that your taking a break from wikiHow.
