How to Act Like You're Blind

This can be good for a school play or something like that.

    Look as if you are looking into the distance, but at nothing particular. Choose an object to look at because if you look at that person in the eye, it would really look fake. Just keep your eyes focused on an object.

    If you're walking, look straight ahead. Don't look down. Just walk and hold things so you "know where you are."

    Don't close your eyes. Blind people usually have their eyes open. They don't have closed eyes because it wouldn't have a point.

    Feel around a lot to see where you are, to act blind.


  • You could wear sunglasses or light grey contact lenses to look more impaired.
  • Don't wear glasses with prescriptions, it will ruin your eyes.
  • If you are pretending to be color-blind, don't match your clothing.
  • You may bring a cane with you.
  • Use it in school plays.


  • Realize that most blind people can get around perfectly fine. In some instances, people may not even realize at first that a person is blind, because they can get around very smoothly.
  • Recognize that many blind people would prefer blind actors to portray blind characters.
  • Do not use it in school or anything just be careful with who you are doing this.
