How to Accomplish an All Nighter

All nighters... no real point to them, except the satisfaction of walking into school and announcing that you can go a whole night without sleeping. But, it's easier said than done. Read on to find out how to pull off an all nighter.

Steps

    Set a date, and invite some friends over. Preferably on a Friday or during school holidays, that way you'll have more time to catch up on sleep before school. And having a few friends attempt the all nighter with you will be helpful - agree that if someone starts to doze off, you'll wake them up pronto.

    Make sure you don't get bored. When people are bored at night, they think, 'Ugh, I'm bored, better just go to bed.' Make sure you have plenty to do. You'll be able to have long gossips with your friends which will pass the time pretty quickly. Also, make sure you have some good DVDs to watch, and ask your friends to bring some along, too. Just act like you would as if it was a normal sleepover, really.

    Don't put your pajamas on too early! No matter how tired you get, you won't want to sleep in your clothes, so you won't doze off.

    Make sure you have lots of sugar at hand. Fizzy drinks and sweets will make you hyperactive so you won't fall asleep. Keep topping up the sugar rush when it wears off.

    If you run out of DVDs, go on the Internet for a while. Although, this might not be such a good idea if you've invited loads of people round because they might get bored when it's not their turn.

    Play kids' games with your friends. Charades, Would You Rather, Truth or Dare etc.

    Play on the Wii, xbox, or whatever. Create a tournament and find out who the Ultimate Champion is.

    Watch the sun rise and fall asleep

Tips

  • Avoid drinking energy drinks. While they can provide you with a short burst of energy, they're quite unhealthy and can make you crash in a few hours.
  • sugar can also make you feel energized for a little while, they will make you crash in a few hours also much like the energy drinks.

Warnings

  • Be careful not to wake up the whole household when watching TV etc.
  • Fizzy drinks and sweets should be consumed only as treats on occasions like this. Remember to brush your teeth before you go to bed!
